Orthoceras | Large Teardrop

Orthoceras was an ancient cephalopod that lived about 370 million years ago. The name means straight horn, referring to the characteristic long, straight, conical shell. The preserved shell is all that remains of this ancestor of our modern-day squid.

This piece sits flat but is beveled on the edges so it is elevated and doesn't lay completely flat.
